It was last year around this time that a Punjabi film, Jatt and Juliet, was noticed by one and all. It challenged and changed the rule books of Punjabi box office. Now, the sequel of the that film (which till date is the highest grosser in Punjabi Cinema) has crushed the first day record of all other Punjabi films emerging the highest Punjabi opener ever.
Jatt and Juliet has taken a 100% opening around Punjab and has emerged the number 1 choice in the state. It has literally washed out every film in the state including new Bollywood release Ghanchakkar, once again proving that Punjabi Cinema has arrived.
Interesting, unlike Jatt and Juliet, Jatt and Juliet 2 has opened to an excellent response in Delhi collecting the highest first day for any Punjabi film.
It will be too early to predict if Jatt and Juliet 2 will break the lifetime record of 32 Crores that Jatt and Juliet has set last year, but one thing is certain, the first weekend record will be broken by leaps and bounds.

Distribution by Speed Records is commendable. In a city like Chandigarh, which is an important market for Punjabi films, Jatt and Juliet 2 has a record 69 shows on Saturday/Sunday and with 60% advance bookings, this can be translated into a phenomenal number.
New Overseas markets for Punjabi Cinema
Jatt and Juliet 2 has seen release in some of the newest markets for Punjabi Cinema such as Italy, Germany and Austria. While we could not get the box office collections of these places, as overseas collections are usually compiled after the weekend, but the response has been been great.
