Punjabi Cinema has seen a resurrection of sorts in 2013 with over 40 Films seeing theatrical release. Although, there has been a lot of criticism, especially in second half of the year, but one can not deny that the film industry has grown by leaps and bounds. In this article, we will list out some of the most awaited Punjabi films of 2014. Please note that this article will consist of films that are being shot or have been formally announced. A few prominent films that are not included in this list are Carry On Jatta 2 (Gippy Grewal), Prince Of Patiala (Babbu Mann), Munde UK De 2 (Jimmy Sheirgill), Punjabi No. 1 (Jimmy Sheirgill), Yodha - A Warrior (Kuljinder Sidhu), Untitled film (Harbhajan Mann-Manmohan Singh), Untitled film (Gurdas Mann, Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa). The reason why these are not added in this list is because they are not formally announced.

Here are the most awaited Punjabi films of 2014 -
1.) 1984 Punjab
When the team of Jatt and Juliet Series returns with a serious themed film on "1984", one expects nothing less than "magic".
With two back to back mega-blockbusters of Punjabi Cinema, Diljit Dosanjh (Actor/Singer), Anurag Singh (Director) and Gunbir Sidhu (Producer) reunite for 1984 Punjab making it the most awaited film of 2014. Joining them in the starcast is Sonam Bajwa, Kirron Kher, Pawan Malhotra and others. The film is releasing on June 27, the same weekend as Jatt and Juliet series.

2.) Double Di Trouble
Punjab da Asli Sher "Dharmendra" makes his full fledged debut in Punjabi Cinema with Desi Rockstar Gippy Grewal in a Subhash Ghai production, this doesn't happen every day which is bound to drive the audience to the theatres.
Bollywood legendary producer/director will produce this comedy film, which will be directed by Smeep Kang (Carry On Jatta fame), and star Dharmendra, Gippy Grewal, Poonam Dhillon, Manissha Lamba, Kulraj Randhawa and Gurpreet Ghuggi. The film is tentatively set to release in May.

If sources are to be believed, Disco Singh could be another major money spinner from the Jatt and Juliet director/actor combo Anurag Singh and Diljit Dosanjh. Backed by the most powerful family of Punjab, this PTC Motion Pictures production will be directed by Anurag Singh and see Diljit Dosanjh and Surveen Chawla romancing each other after this year's Saadi Love Story.

4.) Jatt James Bond
Adding up to his winning streak, Desi Rockstar's first release in 2014 will be Jatt James Bond where he will seen opposite Bollywood actress Zarine Khan.
Directed by Rohit Jugraj (Bollywood director), Jatt James Bond is a Romantic Action film and is tentatively set to release in April.

5.) Kirpaan - The Sword of Honour
Roshan Prince made his acting debut with a 2009 film Lagda Ishq Ho Gaya but he really got noticed only in 2013 with films like Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad (solo), Naughty Jatts (multistarrer) and Lucky Di Unlucky Story (Cameo).
Now, in 2014, stakes are going to get higher for this singer turned actor. His biggest release till date is Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad but that film lacked the novelty that could click with the masses. His next film Kirpaan may be able to fulfill that void.
Kirpaan also stars Gurleen Chopra, Sameksha Singh, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sunita Dhir, Shavinder Mahal and others. It is directed by Amrik Gill who is a veteran writer from Bollywood and Punjabi Cinema. Kirpaan releases on February 7, 2014.

Jazzy B was seen as Goli in this year's comedy film Best Of Luck but there he was somehow overshadowed by Gippy Grewal and Binnu Dhillon.
Now he teams up with another popular youth icon Garry Sandhu to star in Rambo Ranjha which is directed by maverick director Navaniat Singh and produced by Gunbir Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu.

7.) Mukhtiar Chadha
DirectorGifty's debut Punjabi film made a lot of noise when it was announced this year but since it could not be completed on time for its September 2013 release, Mukhtiar Chadha sees a place in this list as it remains one of the most awaited Punjabi films.
Mukhtiar Chadha is now expected to release in September 2014.

8.) Mundeyan Toh Bach Ke Rahi
Jassi Gill's two scene special appearance in Ishq Garaari had proved that this singer has become very popular after his Lancer track. Next year, he will be seen in 3 movies, out of which 2 films make it to this article.
