Two New Films Announced. Shooting Starts!

This year is surely going to be a landmark year for Punjabi Cinema in terms of number of film releases. With 3 film releases in the first 5 months, there are about 12-15 film releases coming up in the second half of the year, making it one of the biggest year for Punjabi Cinema in the last 3 decades.

In terms of success rate, this year has seen a success rate of 67% so far with two major hits in form of Dharti (Super Hit) and The Lion of Punjab (Semi Hit). Some other notable films that are expected to join the list of Box Office hits are Jihne Mera Dil Luteya (July 29), Yaara O Dildaara (Aug 12), Hero Hitler In Love, I am Singh & Welcome To Punjab. If all these films strike gold at the box office, this year would indeed turn out to be the golden year for Punjabi Cinema.

The latest additions to the list of upcoming films of 2011 are: Yaar Anmulle & Untitled Rai Jujhar Film.

Yaar Anmulle stars Hansraj Hans's younger son Yuvraj Hans, Jividha Astha, Kajal & Arya Babbar. It is directed by Anurag and produced by Kapil Batra who earlier co-produced Mel Karade Rabba (2010). The shooting of the film started yesterday.

Singer/Actor Rai Jujhar

Untitled Rai Jujhar Film is directed by Harinder Gill and produced by Bhushan Maidan. It is the debut film of singer Rai Jujhar.
